Feelings and emotions is one of my favourite themes to teach. Apart from all the great resources you can find on Pinterest, there are also a lot of fun songs. If you have younger learners, then Super Simple Learning has the perfect resources for you. Apart from wonderful worksheets and drawing prompts, they have three amazing songs for ESOL:
- Can You Make a Happy Face? (Halloween Song)
- If You’re Happy (happy, angry, sleepy, scared)
- Hello! (vocabulary: good, great, wonderful, tired, hungry, not so good)
Next week we’re going to learn “If You’re Happy” with these spoon puppets! I’m going to use them for imaginary dialogues about feelings and for guessing games, until the children learn the four emotions, then teach the song. During free play, I hope the children will be enthusiastic about using the puppets to make their own stories or act the song out.
We’ve been using these stick puppets and the kids love them. They also made some and it was their own idea; while playing they asked me if they could take mine as examples.
I painted the wooden spoons, then added googly eyes and some textile ponchos to hide the hands. |
