How to Make Kinetic Sand

September 7, 2016      Leave a Comment

Friday is our science day and the kids love it! Sometimes we combine weird things in our sensory bin to see how they react and other times we do science experiments.

Last week we made kinetic sand from 6 cups of sand, 2 tablespoons of dish soap (we used Fairy), 1 cup of corn starch, and a cup of water. We first combined the water and soap in a large container and used a whisk to make foam. Then we mixed the dry ingredients, and added the water mixed with Fairy.

We added some extra water while playing, because it became a bit dry. You can always add more water if it’s too dry, or more sand/corn starch if it’s too liquid.

You can then give the kids some cookie cutters, straws, sand toys, plastic cutlery and let them have fun for hours!
