Forget about classical rhymes and choose songs that:
- focus on basic vocabulary: food, body parts, expressing wants and needs, animals
- you can sing during daily routines or transitions, because they will make difficult moments more fun and they will help kids anticipate what’s next
- have topics that your baby is interested in
- have easy-to-understand lyrics. If you can’t find any, make your own.
- involve movement, dance, play musical instruments, do the actions in the song. The sensitive period for movement starts at birth and continues to 4.5 years (check montessori philosophy). In this period, children need to move and it is our duty to give them opportunities to do so.
Do you want to:
– help your child meet their communication milestones
– use everyday interactions to build your child’s language
– learn simple strategies used by language teachers and speech therapists to engage children and get them motivated to talk
– know how to help your child express wants and needs
Then Teach Your Child to Talk and Build Useful Vocabulary is the right course for you. Read more about it here.
